Incoming Director of Development
Susanna (Susu) Cohen grew up in Bexley, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio. She is a proud graduate of Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, where she majored in American Studies and minored in Theatre Production. As a student, Susanna was a passionate leader for Cornell Hillel, serving on the Student Executive Board and as a summer intern, but is perhaps best remembered as the co-founder of the Big Red Bar Mitzvah. Susanna is thrilled to return to her roots and serve as the Director of Development for Cornell Hillel, an organization very close to her heart. She is excited to get to travel back up to Ithaca often while working remotely from New York City.
Susanna comes to Cornell Hillel from the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, in Lower Manhattan, where she has served as the Associate Director of Development. While at the Museum, Susanna worked directly with the Chairman and Board of Trustees on their fundraising efforts, cultivated major gifts and grants, and coordinated the single most successful fundraiser in the Museum’s history.
Prior to joining the Museum, Susanna lived in Washington, DC and worked as an Advancement Executive for Hillel’s Schusterman International Center. While at Hillel International, Susanna served as a major gifts officer, planned receptions for Hillel leadership across the country, provided support for large annual fundraising events, and liaised with local Hillel chapters to encourage fundraising partnerships.
This past September, Susanna married her childhood camp sweetheart. She lives with her husband David in the West Village.
