Services

Cornell Hillel hosts multiple prayer groups including Shevach, Kesher, and Kedma. Each of these organizations provides a unique and meaningful place for students to connect. Don't see a service that fits you? Let us know and we'll work together to grow our community to fit your needs. 

Shevach

Who:  
Shevach is the traditional and egalitarian prayer community at Cornell. Shevach welcomes Jews of all backgrounds and practices to join weekly Kabbalat Shabbat, monthly Shabbat Shacharit, and occasional social events. Shevach typically has a 
large turnout and always has a minyan. 

When:
Services typically begin an hour and 15 minutes before 104West dinner. This is around 5:15 pm during daylight savings time and 6:15 pm during standard time

Where:
Shevach gather in Anabel Taylor Hall Room 314, or the Law School courtyard when the weather permits.

Kesher

Who:  
Kesher is a vibrant Reform minyan made up of undergrad and grad students and Hillel staff members. Kesher holds egalitarian Shabbat services every Friday evening. Kesher uses familiar Reform liturgy and melodies and services may include musical instruments. 

When:
Services typically begin an hour and 15 minutes before 104West dinner. This is around 5:15 pm during standard time and 6:15 pm during daylight savings time.

Where:
Kesher gathers in the Founders Room (ATH114) in Anabel Taylor Hall.

Kedma 

Who:  
The Orthodox Minyan, Kedama, meets every Shabbat in the Edwards room for a traditional minyan with a mechitzah.  Students, professors, and community members all participate in the services and gather together after Saturday morning services for a Kiddush reception.

When:
Generally Friday night services are 10 minutes before candle lighting.  Shabbat morning services always start at 9:15am.  

Where:
Kedma services are held in the Edwards Room in Anabel Taylor Hall.
