During Cornell's 2015 Orientation Week for first year students, Hillel will three major events to introduce incoming students to Jewish life at Cornell:
- Freshmen Fest, August 20-21 - Students can get a jump start on their college experience by meeting other Jewish freshmen and connecting with upperclassmen who can show them 'the ropes' through this overnight experience. This pre-orientation program allows students to move into their residence halls a day early, before we travel together to the nearby Hoffman Challenge Course. After the ropes course, games, s'mores, and a night under the stars, students will be ready to begin their Cornell careers with a great group of friends. Register here.
- The Shabbat Dinner Experience, August 21, 5-7pm - Sample a taste of our weekly Shabbat dinners with a delicious kosher meal conveniently hosted in the Robert Purcell Community Center, right near the freshmen residence halls. Families are invited to join their students in learning more about Cornell Hillel, hearing a performance by the Chai Notes a capella group, and meeting other families. Sign up here.
- Balch Lawn BBQ, August 24, 5:45-8:00pm - Interact with the leaders of dozens of Jewish student groups on campus, while enjoying the best kosher BBQ food in all of central New York. But what's the best part about this popular event on Balch Lawn, right near all the freshmen residence halls? It's 100% free! No need to register; simply follow the tempting scents and stop on by.
