Cornell Hillel’s Board of Trustees is pleased to share the selection of Zac Kaye to be the Interim Executive Director of Cornell Hillel for the 2015-16 academic year.  Kaye is an exceptional Hillel professional who brings vast Hillel experience and executive leadership to Cornell’s Jewish community.

“We look forward to welcoming Zac to the Cornell campus,” says Hillel Executive Director Search Chair, Marc Schlussel.  “He brings to this position a deep and nuanced understanding of Jewish students, Hillel and campus life. We are certain that Jewish student life will continue to thrive under his guidance and provide stability to the organization during the search for our next Executive Director.”

Kaye served as the Founding Executive Director of Hillel of Greater Toronto for 18 years. Most recently, he was the Interim Director, from 2013-2014, of the University of Minnesota Hillel. Prior to each of those roles, Kaye was the Executive Director of the Hillel of New South Wales, Australia, and as Executive Director of the Hillel of Greater Vancouver. He was also a JCC director in the UK.  Kaye earned his Master’s of Jewish Communal Service with a focus in Jewish Education from the Hornstein School of Jewish Communal Service at Brandeis University. He also holds a certificate in Education from the University of Manchester, a certificate in Counseling from South West London (UK) College, and a certificate in Family Life Education from Boston University. Kaye has been recognized for his impactful work by three university presidents and has had his style characterized as “Zac Power.”

Kaye is thrilled to join Cornell Hillel. “With its diversity of Jewish students, active program, skilled professionals, and broad alumni and parent network,” Kaye said, “Cornell has earned a reputation as one of the leading Hillel organizations in the world.”  Kaye is looking forward to working with the robust professional team.  During this transition period, the Cornell Hillel Board and staff team are committed to maintaining the quality program which the students deserve and expect.

Established on-campus in 1929, Cornell Hillel has been an intrinsic part of the Cornell University since its founding. For the past decade, Cornell Hillel has achieved a period of sustained growth, garnering numerous awards for excellence and becoming a flagship Hillel in the movement. Its extraordinary student leadership and talented professional staff will continue to engage Jewish students at Cornell and build vibrant Jewish life on the Hill through 250 student leadership positions, over 30 different Jewish students groups, and thousands of successful programs and initiatives on campus each year. Cornell Hillel is poised to continue to grow to great heights.

Cornell Hillel is affiliated with Hillel International.  Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so that they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.
