Participate

Cornell Hillel depends upon the support of alumni, parents, grandparents, and other key volunteers to enhance our work. There are three entry points to participating in Cornell Hillel as alumni or parents.
  1. Volunteer on the Board of Trustees or Advisory Council
  2. Serve on a Committee
  3. Find Your Community
  4. Mentor a student

Volunteer on the Board of Trustees or Advisory Council

Cornell Hillel is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of alumni, parents, faculty, and students. Trustees are elected to three year terms, and are charged with the responsibility of making a significant financial contribution. Approximately 25% of Cornell Hillel’s annual campaign derives from the support of its Trustees. In addition, Trustees dedicate time by serving on committees and attending quarterly meetings in New York City and Ithaca.

Each Spring, the Board Development Committee nominates new Trustees who are approved by the Board of Trustees. Members whose terms have been completed as well as prospective parent and alumni members are invited to serve on the Advisory Council, but are not granted voting rights. However, they are invited to attend every meeting and serve on committees.

Mentor a Student
Cornell Hillel values the guidance that alumni and parents can provide to students in both their careers and philanthropic commitments.  Students have had the opportunity to shadow Jewish alumni during spring breaks, meet for lunch when on-campus, and talk over the phone. What sets apart our mentors is their commitment to Jewish leadership as a volunteer in addition to their careers. If you are interested in talking or meeting with students, please contact Joelle Milton (jem364).  You can also fill out the following form.
