Amanda K. Weiss hails from a small village in Rockland County NY. Having lived up and down the east coast for much of her life and a four-year stint in Eugene, OR as the Director of Jewish Leadership & Learning for Oregon Hillel, she is very excited to be back in New York as the Assistant Director at Cornell Hillel! A graduate of The George Washington University, Amanda majored in Judaic Studies and Psychology, holds a Graduate Certificate in Jewish Non-Profit Management from Gratz College, a Masters in Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, and most recently, a Certificate in Jewish Education Specializing in Adolescents and Emerging Adults through Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. In August 2014, Amanda also became part of two inaugural fellowship cohorts: Hillel International’s Engage2Educate Fellows and Taglit Fellows.
In her free time (what free time?), Amanda enjoys playing with her lab-boxer Ellie, seeing musicals, finding great bargains, and experimenting with different art forms from piano to micrography to baking. She’s always willing to meet up for coffee (for her, a fat-free Double Chocolatey Chip Frappachino—no whip!), or a mint-chocolate chip flavored anything on campus. Feel free to call or email any time with ideas for exploring Ithaca, awesome performances, or a chance to talk programming—she can’t wait to meet all of you!
